Term 3

This term we are going to be learning about the noisy reef. We have begun by doing some research about some of the reefs around the world. When Miss Paton came in last Thursday she worked with us to create our own maps. On our maps we located reefs and put some information about those reefs. It was really exciting to create our own maps. We also had Ms Grant come in and see our learning. She introudced us to the Google World Wonders site. We have loved looking through the images of the Great Barrier reef, especially the under water images where we can use streetview so it is like we are under the water.

We are also going to be doing invasive sports this term for our PE. We have Netball on a Monday morning with Sport Auckland, then on Tuesday mornings we will be going to Waikowhai Intermediate to play hockey with Barry. We are loving our sports at the moment.

Last Thursday we were after our writing we had a some time to share what we were proud of in our writing.

We are looking forward to another busy and exciting term of learning in Flox Class!

Construction at Hay Park School

Our old library was a leaky building and wasn't a safe place. At the end of Term 1, our library, staff room and resource room was demolished. New building has begun. Today we had a cement truck and a cement pumping truck come into our school. The pump truck has some really long pipes that go high up in the air. The cement comes out of the pipe like a hose.
O'neil class watching the action.
The cement being pumped into place.
The first cement truck.
The pipes carrying the cement (the pipes reminded us of Georges Grandma from Georges marvelous medicine).

Football

Over the next six weeks we will be having sessions with Courtney from Auckland Football. We had our first session today and played capture the flag. It was very funny to watch, especially when we had to have our hands and feet on the ground! After we had played warm up games we had some games of four-a-side football.

e-learning with Miss Paton

Every Thursday afternoon Miss Paton come and works with Flox and McCahon classes at Hay Park School. Today we were learning to create online identity, pride and ownership of our learning through our individual blogs. We are also building online relationships within the Ako Hiko cluster of school by commenting on others blog posts.
