Week 8 - Flag design

This week New Zealand has been voting on a referendum to see if New Zealanders want to change our flag. We held our own voting at school and the majority of Hay Park Students want to change our flag.

In Scott Class we have been learning about flags and the symbols on the flags and what they represent.

One of our learning tasks this week has been to design a flag that represents our class. This is Osana's flag design.

She has included art work from our artist Ian Scott, the stars for our Chromebooks and our class photo to show who is in our class.

Week 8 - Blog Statistics

Last week in Scott Class we spent some time looking through the information that is collected on our blogs.

We were really interested to see where our audience comes from.

According to the world map gadget we have on our class blog we have had visitors from over 177 countries (there are only 196 countries in the world!!!)

It made us truly appreciate the global nature of our audience. We would love to see how many different places we can get comments from so, if you are reading this please leave a comment with where you from.

Thanks!

Week 7 - Tuhi mai, tuhi atu

Kia ora!

This week we have been preparing for tuhi mai tuhi atu (write to me, write to others) which is a way of us sharing our learning across clusters and across New Zealand.

This is a presentation we created as a class to introduce ourselves to Room 7 at Paihia School in the Bay of Plenty and Room 7 at Paroa School on the West Coast of the South Island. (I've just realised we are all Room 7's that are connected! Pretty cool aye!) It is full of all the things our class thinks are important to share with new people we meet.

Week 6 - Stop motion animation

On Thursday we had a visit from Tania, she taught us how to create stop motion animation using an app on our Chromebooks.

First we looked at some examples from other schools Tania has worked with, then we had a quick introduction to the stop motion animation app. Then it was time to get in and have a go!

It was great to see the children in Scott class working together as teams, allowing their imaginations to run wild and come up with some awesome animations.

Have a look at our individual blogs to see our animations.

Here is Alaskah, Saunoa & Tai's animation Papas Pizziria.
