Anzac Ceremony

Today Flox Class and McCahon Class had a ceremony to remove our field of rememberance.

We began with a waiata, Te Aroha. Then listened to the last post while we removed the crosses. It was a very solem occasion.

Lest we Forget

Letters from the Anzac Soldiers

This term we have been learning about the Anzac soliders. We wrote letters
as though we were soldiers in WW1, writing home from the trenches.

This is Jayzel's letter.

Anzac Week

During the first week of term we have been learning about WW1 and the Anzac Soldiers.

On Friday we held an Anzac Service at school, by our flag pole and our field of remembrance. The field of remembrance has 30 white crosses each bearing the names of those from the Mt Roskill area who lost their lives in WW1.

Chinese New Year - Week 3

Gong Xi Fa Cai Everyone! (Happy New Year)

Yesterday was Chinese New Year. We have been learning about Chinese New Year celebrations all week in class.

On Tuesday it was our class assembly - our assembly focused on Chinese New Year and included lots of interesting facts about it. We made gold coin trees to bring us good luck.

To celebrate, yesterday we began making some paper cut art work based on the animals in the Chinese Calendar.

We will post some photos when they are finished.

We are loving using our Chromebooks in all our learning. They are such great learning tools!

Starting our Chromebook Journey

Yesterday our Chromebook journey began.

There was a lot of important information to be recorded, which we all worked together to do. Then came the big moment when we were able to open up our beautiful new Chromebooks! Soooo exciting!

We all signed in, then checked our email for the first time and had a look around our class site.

Our Chromebooks are such a great tool for learning. We can't wait to use them more!

Huge thanks to all our whanau for supporting us with our Chromebooks.

First week back at school

Week one has been an exciting time at Hay Park School!

We have had science experiements, we have been learning about each other and the Treaty of Waitangi!

Miss Hopcroft is a student teacher in our class. She will be with us for the first two weeks, and then in on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It has been so much fun getting to know each other and starting our learning journey for 2015.

We can't wait to see where our learning will take us this year.
